The one near me hasn't closed yet. But I suspect it will close on or by June 30.
For a store that is trying to liquidate its stock, it sure is not giving a lot of discount on items. Most of the clearance is 10% to 30% with an extra 10% discount at the register on your overall purchase, of course some exceptions may apply.
The clearance pricing puts them at or just below Walmart pricing. Not much of a difference. There was a few people in the store, most were like me, wishing the prices were lower.
This past saturday I only bought about three items that i'm going to use for stocking stuffers for the kids that belong to my gf's nieces. There was a lot of stuff still left for real young children. A crap ton of star wars related merchandise, especially for the Rogue film.
Unless something happens, I'll head back to TRU at the end of the month, hopefully they'll have a bigger discount. I'm not looking for anything in particular, but I am keeping my eyes open for any action figures that are either comic book or wrestling related.

Their prices explain why they’re going out of business. Even now they don’t see that.

@Plethos — LOL. Doesn’t really matter. They’re history, regardless of which way the picture lands.

@infatuatedbby - not even having exclusive licensing to some products helped them. if you are the only store selling the item, why not stock up on it, instead of just having a couple or so? they were just run terrible.

Our nearest Toys R Us closed within a week of the news that they were closing. Because of this they were selling most things left in stock at 70% off, and the day we popped in they took another 20% off at the till. We got six items for less than the full price of the most expensive item. I love a bargain!

I agree. Our closing sales weren't that great either. I was hoping for something spectacular!

@Plethos What do you think happens to all the stuff they couldn't sell?

@star_disgate - probably auctioned off or sent back to the manufacturer. maybe the dollar stores will buy some of the stock.

All the Winn Dixie stores have shut down here and I am sure Kmart is no more. Sears? Gone.

theres still a very few kmarts here in cali, but im sure theyll also close down. sears is still here in my areas mall. i knew that the sears buyout of some kmart stores and merger was going to hurt them in the long run. also the fact that they hired people from outside of the company to fill the upper corporate jobs. it just created a disconnect from the board room to the sales floor.
