Saturday Night Live debuted October 11, 1975 .
Paul Simon was the first celebrity to host SNG and perform as a musical guest on October 18, 1975.
In 2003 Kenan Thompson started preforming in the SNL repertoire. He is younger than the show itself and the longest serving cast member. He has also done the most celebrity impressions with 136.
Betty White appeared as host on May 8,2010 at the age of 88 and is the oldest host to date.
Personally I don't think the show is as funny as it was in beginning, 43 years ago. Back in the beginning the cast was Jane Curtain, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Laraine Newman, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris and Chevy Chase. They did some of the funniest skits imaginable.

The original cast is classic. I stopped watching when they left.

I agree with you. It is not what it once was

No one matches the original cast + Bill Murray in my opinion A lot of former Second City performers in that group. Interesting fact: I noticed when watching reruns of "Laugh In" how they used some of the same ideas, such as news and funny skits and phrases.

I used to watch it back in the day, but I don't watch any TV now. Not even the news. (Especially not the news)
