The Gig From Hell, Concluded

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about a gig that quickly turned into something weird. The directions I was given were wrong, I couldn't find an English-speaker in a nearby town to help me, there was no cell phone coverage at the site of the gig (a campground at a lake surrounded by hills), and when I finally got there, I lost my car keys.
From there, things picked up, sort of. I found my car keys on the floor of my SUV, between two seats (don't ask; I don't know). I shuttled down to the main area and listened to a couple of bands play on the "big stage." I coudn't find any of my friends or band mates, so I played "soccer" with a family that kind of "adopted" me. There was a Grateful Dead show vibe to the place, but I didn't smell pot in the air.
I then shuttled back to my car and had a great jam with myself under the stars. That was probably the highlight of the "gig." The air was fresh, the temperature was moderate, and I really "got into" the music I was playing. I "crashed" in my truck, and slept well.
The next morning, I found a parking place near where we were playing, walked around near the lake, and enjoyed the scenery. A bass player I didn't know joined us for the gig itself, and it went fine. There were all of 30 people in the audience (it was a small stage), and we played without amplification.
Then I hung with my band mates for awhile and drove home. I never did find my usual jamming buddies (they played a set there as well, but had actually left the night before), and I never did eat any of the food there.
I'll attach a picture of the place (Lake Del Valle) from its website. Other than jamming by myself under the stars, the highlight was my short hike by the lake, taking in the pretty scenery before the gig itself.

May have not spoken English but really nice people, been to towns like that? Never understand the hate. I will shut up now.

@Ithink For me, it's nice to get away from people sometimes. To have a way of expressing myself (guitar), to have nature around me, and to feel "safe." All of that was present as I jammed by myself with my guitar, sitting cross-legged on the ground, playing the guitar and watching the stars.

@TheHorse The one you were supposed to write about poor people and the destruction of unions, and how the rich are getting greedier. Just kidding, how you got lost and overall experience. Still say it would make a great song.

That lake is paradise. You still had a good time after a few mishaps.

@mlgen1037 Yes I was. This has been a good Spring here for green hills. Often, they're already brown by late April here in California.

"Jamming by myself." Is that what the kids call it these days?
