Cheese And Butter Defy The Laws Of Physics

Why is it when I use cheese or butter type products, there is never enough packaging left to wrap fully round what is left over?
I buy a block of butter, wrapped tightly in its foil. I open it, and chop a chunk out to consume. Wrapping what remains in the packaging should be easy as with less to wrap round, the packaging should fold round it easily, but it often just won't fit at all. Either the content has expanded, or the packaging has shrunk. It should wrap round with foil to spare, but it never does. Grrr.

@arthurchappell I agree. It isn't always easy to rewrap such foods.

The manufacturers are in league with the cling film and good bag companies.

@asfarasiknow that is probable - unwrapped it could go off more quickly so it speeds up the need to buy more
