Hello everyone. Today I am trying to cook a dish I like but I do not know how to yet. So this is a first for me for this dish. I always love this when I see this in canteen or cafeteria. So I search on the net and follow the instructions. I follow everything that was written, every bit. But..... it seems there is something missing. I cannot get the taste of the dish I used to eat. I need help. I think this is an Ilocano dish, IGADO. @ridingbet @shavkat. Maybe you know how to cook this dish? Have you ever cook something and it does not end up the way you would want it to be?

I think Igado has a little vinegar. Maybe you overestimated the vinegar you put. I also failed in cooking when I cooked chicken curry for the first time, when hubby and I were just starting with our married life.

Yes, there is a vinegar. But I followed the exact amount if vinegar given. I guess they over estimate it because it is really sour so I out in some sugar. @SIMPLYD how are you? Did not see you for a while here.

@hereandthere yes, I think so too. But you I do not use tomato sauce for menudo. Just real finely chopped tomatoes.

You learn through experience. cooking is no different. But it would be quicker if you ask someone who can cook the dish to teach you. If you only have recourse through the internet I suggest you look at several tutorial video and try them out until you find one you like.

Yes, that is right. I browse the net this morning. I found several sites and I choose one which I thought is good, apparently their vinegar amount is too many.

I have heard of that dish but I am not sure if my mom knows that. She is Ilocano too. I have experienced that when I start cooking pasta. It was a disaster.

I learn to cook from my grandma. The usual Filipino food, menudo, kare kare, mechado, adobo puti and with soy sauce and more. For other dishes, I go to my cookbooks and internet

I once made duck l'orange and followed the recipe perfectly. I spent hours on it and when I served it to my family, we all made faces and tossed it into the trash. I see some can guide you. I've never had that dish, but it sounds delicious.

Well I made some revisions by putting some augar to lessen the sour taste and it taste sfine. I guess they over estimated the amount of vinegar to put because I follow their measurements.
