Aw, Man, That's Not Fair

One of the things that annoy me about commercials is the unfair comparison they make with their products. Let's compare, for example, a computerized washing machine to lye soap and a scrub board (or, for you Loretta Lynn fans, "worshboard"). In the immortal words of Homer Simpson, "Doh!" One of the commercials they run on MLB between innings has a similar, unfair comparison. It shows a woman, in the rain, going to an Apple Store to see what's wrong with her iPhone 6. Six. As in, three versions ago. As in, four years ago. Of course, she can't get it fixed without an "upgrade," so she decides to "upgrade" to a Samsung 9. As in, exploding battery Samsung. I don't see Apple turning the tables and comparing the iPhone 8 or iPhone X to a Samsung 6. They don't have to, of course, because of the quality of the product (not to mention the non-existence of those two magic words from Android products you see all the time: force close). As Bill Anderson wrote in a song, "If you've never had filet mignon peanut butter tastes just fine." That's what Samsung is doing here: comparing a four-year-old product to a brand new one. And that's not fair. Even in the advertising world. Here's the referenced Bill Anderson song, as sung by Jean Shepard in her chart-topping rendition:

Idiot companies. I hate how dumb they have to make people out to be to sell something.

Well i can say that some people dont know that an Iphone 6 is not the newest phone because they dont keep up with the new times of technology. So how would they know that bringing it to a store to get fixed would be so hard because it is so old until they got to the store. They wouldnt know that, yes its commercials but i dont usually watch commercials as most of the time i watch stuff with my DVR that i record everyday. I think its just if some people have common sense and some dont. Its just life the way it is now a days.

Yep, no sense in comparing the old to the new. Things progress and you have to move on.

I try not to watch commercials so I haven't seen the one you are talking about. I generally don't believe half of what they say
