New Word Study Abacination

Today's new word are pretty horrible ones as to Abacinate someone is to blind them in a particularly brutal, painful method of torture. It was a common practice in Arab nations and among medieval inquisitions.
Abacination is not just ripping or poking a victim's eyes out. It involves the use of hot metals or chemicals to slowly melt or burn through the eyes. This could involve holding super-heated copper plates and bowls right up to the eyes.
A grizzly variation involved using paper cups filled with chemicals like quicklime that would dissolve through the cup base and drip into the eyes.
Horrible stuff. I prefer to think of the Monty Python Spanish Inquisition as seen in this Youtube

@arthurchappell So many words derive from Latin, at least it was a useful language to learn. When I was a student my opinion was different.

Hi Arthur. Abacination. The word spells torture. I would not mess around with that word.

@Peach10 it could be either, some torture is for getting information, others just to mistreat and dehumanize prisoners, or sadistically torment those due to be executed
