I talked in one of my earlier posts about my long-time neighbor selling her house. Her house sold and she told me that it was sold to a guy who says he was buying it for his daughter. Would my kids be so lucky! A day after my neighbor moved the last of her things out, the new owner moved in. However, I am not sure she got it right because I have only seen a young man move in with the help of what looks like his parents. So seems like Dad bought the house for his son not daughter. From the brief glimpses I got of him he seems quiet and not around much so I haven't really met him yet. Have you ever bought a house or car for your kids or someone else? Has anyone ever bought you a house or a car or something big?

I wish I was financially able to buy cars and houses for my kids but sadly my funds are lacking. Nice that this young man has parents who can afford to buy him a house. Hope he's a quiet neighbor and doesn't give you any problems.

Not me either nothing that big. We bought our son a couple used cars while he was in University and paid our children's university fees.

Me too and I think I did in part. I allowed one of my kids to stay home rent free until he saved enough to buy a house

That was very nice of Dad to do that for his kid. No, no one ever did that for me, and I couldn't do it for my kids.

My Dad bought me a neat little car and helped us in other ways too. We bouth both boys cheap cars when they left school and we've since bought one son another car recently and gifted them both a substantial amount of money - at least it was substantial to us.

We too did buy our son a couple car during his university days and after - they were used too. We also paid all our boys to go to university. No big money gifts though but my husband's parents did give their children some substantial monetary gifts - they didn't want to wait until they passed.

@renicemae However, in the year plus that he has been there he ia hardly at home so it seems like such a waste. Seems he is gone for weeks to months at a time.

@Freelanzer Yeah. It's very expensive though plus the tax but I really hope so too.

My child is very young and I don't want to buy him such expensive things. He can have it by his own efforts when he grows up. This will be a spoil for him if I offer him such a big gift.

That's great he has a parent to do that for him, and maybe when he's older and has kids of his own, he'll give the house to his kids. That would special and neat. I hope he stays quiet for you though.

I received my share only after my father passed away. I supported my son during his studies and gave some funds as a security as he started his working life. I like what Warren Buffet said "that a very rich person should leave his kids enough to do anything but not enough to do nothing” - siva
