I was totally unimpressed

We went out for a drive and it was past supper time. I had a McDonald's gift card in my bill fold. So, one of the towns had a McD. Perfect, right?
Sign on the door, no ice cream. That was okay, I was not there for ice cream. Hubby went to the bathroom, I was going to take my time and order. A young man offered. I told him I was thinking.
Management came up, asked if I had been helped. I told him I was thinking.
This restaurant has the new order kiosks that are self service. Supposed to make it simpler. For whom?
In the end I had to get help to figure it out.
Ordered non sweet tea. It was not on the service bar. Manager had a counter person get it. Tea was warm, and at first they did not put ice in. He made fun of them sort of. So ice melts in warm tea, but the tea never gets cold.
You have to ask for condiments. I put that in the order. Manager has to get it, and the drinks. And clean up the spills in the lobby. And yells about what is and is not done on the check list.
This was a small McDonald's. Almost NO customers. I see why.
I do not like self check out. I do not like order kiosks. I do not like warm tea.
There is a survey on my receipt. They will get an ear full.
The sad thing is, this is on a highway, in a fairly busy town tourist wise. Abilene, Kansas. Home of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. Plus about six more museums. McDonald's is supposed to be something consistent when you travel. I hate it and once all my giftcards are used up, I will not be back. I definitely will choose to go to other McDonald's but certainly not this one again.

We usually do it if we are on the road and in a hurry. I could and should pack coolers.

So sad you had a bad experience. There is no MCDonalds in my city. There is only KFC in here and they serving is good for me.

I honestly think we would all do better with less fast food available. I like KFC okay.

This McDonald's seems not to go down a treat, though it is located at a tourist resort.

That is right. I have been in some where it is interesting and comfortable to sit, but this was not. And my food was not done well.

I never eat at McDonalds, if I go for fast food I like Wendy's but this kiosk idea sucks, it will take jobs away from young people and retirees who count on these part-time positions.

We may go for fast food once a week, if that. Usually we like it on the road. It still takes a young person to show the old person how to use that kiosk and I still did not get things as I expected them to be. I like Arby's and I really like Subway.

There are many nicer places to eat in that town. Travelers count on fast food chains for consistent experiences, and this one was not.

This is the first really bad time I have had at one. Most of them are okay for what they are, which is fast food.

They need to straighten up. They did provide fast service, but not with me using the kiosk. It just did not seem a comfy place to sit and stay. They had a lot of drive through business but very little inside.

My husband and I are not big fans of McD. We're really not fans of those kiosks at all. We had an experience at a McD some time ago. Hubby and I were in the mood for a sundae so we ordered at the McD kiosk.
After taking the time to figure out the computer which, by the way, took longer to do than it would have taken to go right up to a register and ordering from a live human being, we were informed that there was no ice cream. Whaaaat?
This is beginning to sound like your McD store. We were not in the mood for anything else so we left.
I'm glad you filled out the survey. All of this new fanggled stuff is starting to get on my nerves. I'm still and always will be old school in some aspects of life.

I always avoid self serves as I feel some one is being cheated out of a job.

Yeah, that and self checkouts at the stores. I always "break" them and it takes longer than if I just have a cashier do it in the first place.

There is always one bad apple in the barrel. The only thing I order at McDonald's is coffee.

I like their coffee. I do not mind going in to the one at the toll road service plaza when we go to visit family in Oklahoma. Always busy, always fast, but I still feel like I can grab a corner and sit a while to be out of the car.
