I had an old rope one from the dollar store I got a pile of the removal heads. So I went back yo get them to realize they don't carry them. I picked up a mop and didn't have any extra heads. So I had it 2 weeks before it smelt so bad. I got one last week from Wal-Mart. I have the sponge type ones from Wal-Mart for the kitchen. But this one is for the rabbits room. It needs to be able to get heavy duty. They smush the litter and veggies in the floor. I mop the floors 2 to 3 times a week in the room. Well here it stinks. I rinse it out but tonight soaked it in the bucket wig straight vinegar but still smells. I don't want to spend $5 a week on a mop. It's the material. I can't find anywhere.

Baking soda should help get rid of the smell. I would probably rinse it really wel then wring it out. Soak it in the vinegar again and wring it out again. Sprinkle it with baking soda and leave it outside if you can? There are probably people who will have better suggestions than mine. Have you tried Apple Cider Vinegar instead of white vinegar?

I will try apple cider vinegar. It's currently outside right now as it stinks. The one I may just throw out as I honestly can't stand it but 2 weeks such a waste of money. I just finished the other mop for the floors and it's in the bucket soaking which seeks to help it.

@ricki_911 Hopefully the ACV will work so you won't have to waste more money on it.

I use the Libman rope mops that you pull up to ring them out. I clean other people’s houses and some offices, so I have several mop heads. Every time I use one, I put it in the laundry basket. At the end of the week I wash all of them together and then dry them. Then I use them again and do it all over again.

I had one of those and it fell apart cater than the dollar store. The ones from the dollar store has a plastic piece that pulls up (on the one) but the rope one I have a piece on the mop bucket that rings it out. I don't use cleaning products besides vinegar and hot water. I have washed them in the machine and by hand always has that old mop smell after awhile.
