Restrooms were out of service at the movies

Recently, I went to a movie theater and when I got to the sales counter the guy announced that the restroom is out of service. I got the ticket anyway as I traveled a long time there to see a movie that only played in that particular theater.
I wasn't just going to turn around and go back home. But I had to pee and bad. So, I spent the time I had before the movie would start looking for a bathroom elsewhere. Finally, I managed to find a Starbucks.
I was relieved to finally have access to a bathroom only to find that there was a long line to use it. There were a lot of men in the line and I thought that would make the line go faster. No such luck. The long line took forever and made me want to go to the bathroom even more.
I wasn't even sure I'd make it before my turn came and if I'd make it to the movie on time either. Thankfully, I made it on both accounts but when I got to the theater the restrooms were working already. So, I spent all my free time looking for a restroom elsewhere when I could have just waited in the theater for the restrooms to be working again. If only the guy had said for how long they would be out of service.
One thing I noticed about the Starbucks bathroom is that there was a sign saying that the restroom is gender neutral. Why say that when it's one room with one toilet? That assumes it's for all genders. No?

Darn, I would find that frustrating. Most theaters that I know of, have more than one restroom though.

He said the building was doing something and that's why the restrooms were out of service. That's what I remember.

If there is only one bathroom, it is assumed that everyone can use it. Oh well! What movie did you see?

@1hopefulman Yes! It is based on a book.

I think there should be a lot of bathrooms in these places. I hate the feeling of taking long lines in the bathroom.

@lovebuglena I agree with you, dear friend. There are at least two toilets, one male and one female.

Something like a Starbucks has only one toilet.
Would have been helpful if they had at least one for each gender.

@lovebuglena I know. Iwas thinking of standing by the car and peeing my pants. Then going home instead of to visit.
I managed to walk into the concenience store and stand in the short line. But I was pretty desperate. Don't want to do that again!

It's easier to hold it in when you gotta pee than when you gotta go #2.

But for guys it's easier. They can just water the plants or the trees.
And they don't even have to take their pants off.

maybe the guy didn't know how long it would take? though if he did, he should've said something.
Sorry you had to worry about both accounts.

I should have asked him how long it would be out of service probably. Didn't cross my mind to do that though. But he might have not known himself. But at least he let us know, so that was good.

Starbucks bathrooms are now public facilities so one has to expect lines.

I wonder if that is a good thing that they made their bathrooms public.

@lovebuglena In some ways , yes. But could get annoying to customers trying to relax.

@paigea Also, what if homeless people or others go there and not just to do their business but to wash themselves... That won't be good.

Letely, I go to cinemas that have several shorooms and many restrooms. I would be very uncomfortable if i had had that problem.

Usually movie theaters have many stalls in men's and women's restrooms. Sometimes, there may even be more than one restroom for each. But they can be all out of service... as happened to me this time. And there is nothing you can really do about that. Good thing I had time to look for a bathroom elsewhere.

The frustrating thing was that when I left the theater to go look for a Starbucks (as I knew there should be a bathroom there, though not all do) I didn't find it at first, so went to other places to find a bathroom. Then it turned out, I had to go one block over to get to the Starbucks, which I didn't do. So, I made circles and wasted time trying to find a bathroom elsewhere for nothing. And as a result I did't have time to grab some food, which is what I intended to do before the movie.
