Do good books get outdated?

Yesterday I was talking to Andrés son Prem and I asked him whether he read some. He is not a good reader as most kids of his age (16). He has a tablet, watches TV a lot and has a computer. Books don´t mean much for him. Last week my friend told me that she was worried because Prem was depressed. And I thought that there were very good books that could help him at his age. I told him to read The little prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupery and 2 books by Richard Bach (Johann Sebastian Seagull and Illusions). All those books are good, have important lessons and are short. I wonder if people still know about them. Have you read them?

Hi Marguicha. I have read The Little Prince. Am not familiar with the other author. I think books never get outdated. People are just not fond of reading books that much.

Richard Bach is an American author. You might try to check his books online to read for free.

I have read "The little prince" many years ago. I have also read "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach, but not "Illusions"."Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is one of my favourite books.

@marguicha Yes, I want to read "Illusions" You used the title "Jonathan Sebastian Seagull" Is that the title in Spanish? My Danish copy is called "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" Maybe it had a different name because we used different translations?

I hope so. Sometimes I dread that this technology where everything can be thrown away will take care of burning the books I so love.

I think some literature does age better than others .....but I believe it's most important that the younger generations still can be able to hold a book in their hands - Everything can't be all digital ...yes, very convenient I confess but paper has to survive !!

I am a bookwork at his age. Sometimes I always thought that modernization had changed the old school way.

I hope he enjoys reading I am sure if he knuckles down and looks at books as a more interesting and productive pastime then he might enjoy them. Maybe he should put down his tablet and not watch so much TV he is probably too isolated by doing those things. He needs to be having fun with his friends not stuck in front of the TV

I don't know these. It's a shame kids don't read more.

My two sons don't like reading neither, at least not books. I remember The little prince. It`s long time ago I read it and I wouldn`t mind to read it again.

I read The Little Prince and Jonathan Livingstom Seagull amd loved them both. My 10 y.o. daughter recently read The Little Prince and liked it. I think there's no such thing as an outdated book for someome who loves to read. What would be outdated for me are old manuals and textbooks. But even those would be interesting for a researcher or a vintage collage artist.
