Do you prefer to wear your hair long or short? For many years (since childhood) I had worn my hair short, but I always had a fascination with long hair. My mother never let me grow my hair long in childhood and throughout my teenaged years into my young adult years. She always told me I "didn't look good with long hair" because of the shape of my face. That changed when I turned 40. I decided to let my hair grow despite what she or other people have told me and I haven't looked back. I get the split ends trimmed about once a year but keep the length. Now it is down to my butt and I have so much fun "playing" with it. I put it in braids, put it up in a bun or a ponytail... It is more difficult to look after than short hair but I LOVE it! I can make it crinkly by putting it in braids while it is still wet and with styling gel, then leaving them in overnight. Better than paying tens of dollars at a salon for the same job. How about you? Do you prefer short or long hair?

Hi Lucinda. I like it not too short and not too long. But sometimes I want it short because it is too hot.

The heat is unbearable. I keep it upswept and off of my neck as much as possible in the heat.

I have had long hair most of my life as a kid, married woman, and mommy with a few exceptions. A few years ago I had it cut to chin length and find it more youthful. I can still blow it straight or wear it wavy. Our grandson loves that rocker look and wears his long. He's only 8! Hair is a good way to express yourself whether long or short, as long as it makes you happy.

I've been keeping it long because I'm afraid I might regret a new cut. I was sometimes given short haircuts as a child, because untangling the knots was painful.

@anamika161088 Me too but even those are hard to follow sometimes. I need eyes in the back of my head for some of them, like the Dutch or French braid.

I used to let it grow when I was in college, but that was mainly because I love rock music . Now I wear my hair short because it's easier to take care of and as time goes by I will get bald. I'm a guy, by the way

With a disclaimer that I am a guy, I'd like to say that I have short hair. Not close or bald or a crew cut, but just short. When it starts tickling my ears or rubbing my eyes or poking in to the back of my shirt I have a haircut. The problem is that if I cut it too short it sticks out like a half plucked chicken!!

I have had long hair most of my life. Right now my hair is very short. I dyed my hair some time ago and I wasn't happy with the result, so I decided to cut it very short for a while. When my hair grows I want long hair again.

I sported long hair ( ala the young Neil Young who was one of my singing idols ) when I was a teen as it was the fashion during the 70s. Short at front and long at the back during the late 80s to the 90s, clean and shaven barbers cut when I went into business up to the present.

Hairstyles have changed so many times since the 70's. The thing at the turn of the 70's/80's decade was the Afro. I remember having one.

Long, I have extremely curly hair and my mom kept it short when I was a kid because of tangles, I have not cut my hair in three years, except me doing my bangs. Mine is down to my mid back , its curly so it does not look that long, unless I braid it and I do often in the summer, I wore it up yesterday in a bun while working, I didn`t want it sticking to my neck in sweat.

I wear mine off the neck in the heat too. I wish mine had more of a natural wave but it is straight. I have to style it if I want waves or curls.

I love long hair, I used to have it really long but since have it shoulder length because it has thinned down. Your must be pretty good to have it grown down to that length. Lots of styles for long hair

I prefer to let it go short. The only reason why it was long at times was that I was lazy to cut them.

With me it's the other way round. I had long hair down to my butt as a child. Then a pony tail as a teenager and have had short hair from my student days onwards.

I love long hair. Right now I have neither long not too short...shoulder length one. It is easier and convenient to leave it open on certain occasions. As a little girl, I had long hair with piggy tail braid through out school. Then in college I got influenced by Princess Diana and got a haircut like her for couple of years. I got a lot of compliments for that. Then I grew it till my waist after my marriage. But due to lack of time to take care, I have cut it again till shoulder length. My daughters have long hair below their waist and I take good care of them.

When I am about younger, I love my hair being long but due to school standard I can't maintain it. But now, being close to 40 I like my hair to be short.
