Jordan Broderick, 15, can thank Lake County Deputy Mitch Blackmon for saving her life on Monday.
Jordan was rafting in a creek when a gator showed up out of the water since the gator thought that Jordan was trespassing on his territory.
Jordan must have contacted the authorities before she managed to climb up a tree and wait for help to arrive for a period of 30 minutes.
Lake County Deputy Mitch Blackmon then arrived on the scene to rescue Jordan.
The gator decided to go after Mitch who had a rifle on him to use as self defense in case the gator decided to go after him.
When the gator hissed and made his movement toward Mitch, the deputy fired a shot that struck the gator who then sank into the swamp.
It is not clear if the gator bought the farm or decided to stay underwater for a while longer after the deputy shot him in self defense.

I think that flooding leads to them having to relocate into other areas where before they did not recently occupy. When this thing happens, people need to be on the look out for them. I have heard some horror stories about aligators living in deep underground sewers and getting larger than ever.

Hi George. Thank God that Mitch went to save Jordan. But I was confused with “gator bought the farm...”

Bought the farm is a term that means passed away.

That gator got what was coming to him. Glad Jordan Broderick was saved. Best ending to yet another hero story. Go Mitch Blackmon! Get that gator!

I agree with you since all police officers do say that they would do everything in their power to save any human and animal as part of their duties.
