First sunflower at the preschool! / myLot

The kids were pretty excited today. A nice sunflower bloomed over the weekend. They said, "This is OUR garden!" and went into a watering frenzy. I helped them out. We also planted a new corn plant which had been growing on my balcony. There's one thing thriving in our garden that is a mystery to me. I know we planted some squash and some melon but I can't remember which this is. I'll try to find a picture. Here's the sunflower.

I can't see the picture because of my Internet connection issue. And I also like sunflower and how I wish I have my own garden.

I love when kids get so excited about things and I"m sure they were over the moon seeing the blooming sunflower. It looks very pretty

I don't know if it's big enough to yield seeds for roasting, but it does look pretty.

@TheHorse perhaps they are happier in certain areas away from places who are mostly into the scorching heat of the sun.

I agree that more people should get kids into gardening. But I think there are places (in Africa, for example) where droughts are even worse than those we experience in California. It might be hard to teach gardening in such places.

@TheHorse You are really teaching these kids helpful things and good things. I hope when they grow up they will carry with them into adulthood the things you taught them.
