Matching things in a home

In my lounge I like a seaside style and I now have one long wall with beach hut wallpaper. I have quite a few seaside ornaments. In my hall close to my front door I have nautical postcard wallpaper and it looks very smart. My kitchen looks much better with its green leaf wallpaper. My daughter's room is like a woodland and my son's room is like a jungle.
Do you like matching things in your home?

Your wallpaper and your ormaments sound great. We don't really have a theme, but we have many things from Asia. We have two Japanese wall decorations, that I have received from a Japanese friend. I used to be a volunteer teacher for foreigners, and two of my students from Burma (Myanmar) gave me a beautiful painting from Burma.

@Porcospino Yes, you I right because I do collect costume dolls from different countries. My sister's husband did some business in Japan and he brought me a costume doll from there which is lovely. I hope you visit your Japanese friend. It was 20 years ago she lived in Denmark so I am happy you are Facebook friends.

@maximax8 Do you collect costume dolls from other countries? I used to do that, and when my ex and I lived together I put them on a shelf in our living room. I love my Japanese wall decorations. I met my Japanese friend 20 years ago. She lived in Denmark at that time. She is back in Japan now, but we are Facebook friends. I hope to visit her in Japan one day.

I like to have a theme about things as well. I'm not much for the beach theme myself, but I have a friend whose bedroom and bathroom are beach themed. I asked her if she planned to carry the theme to the other parts of the house but she said probably not.
I like more of a rustic type, almost log cabin feel to my surroundings.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am so happy for her design however the accent wall that doesn't match sounds a bit strange to me.

@maximax8 I like what she has done as well. The only complaint is she has an "accent wall" in her bathroom that just doesn't quite fit. I understand the premise of it but I think she should have done the opposite wall as her accent.

Our walls are all white with a marble paste finish that does not need painting. The furniture around the house adds colour to our rooms.

@maximax8 To paint walls of our house would be a gigantic and expensive task not to speak of the inconvenience it would cause.

Yeah, I like things matching. But never thought of theme.

Yes, sometimes. I like to do things in a nautical or seaside theme, since this is a lake house.
