Have you ever ordered something online and had it simply never arrive?

I recently ordered some guitar strings from Sweetwater.com (five sets, for $52). They never arrived. I checked and found that they were shipped by USPS. But they never made it to my mail box or front door.
Previous to that, I had ordered a check form $2,000 from my Financial Advisor to cover some dental bills. That check also never arrived.
Previous to that, I had ordered some Elmer's Dark Walnut Wood Filler for my speaker restoration projects. That wood filler also never arrived.
I believe all of these orders were supposed to be shipped by the USPS. If my mailman is not Newman from Seinfeld, do you think I should assume that something is going on? Should I call the police?
Fortunately, Sweetwater was "cool" and has shipped five more sets of guitar strings (no charge). I've been their customer for years, and they want to keep it that way.
Has this sort of thing ever happened to you? What would you do if you were in my shoes? I'm getting scared to order anything online, especially if it's shipped by the USPS.

USPS loses stuff often. Former myLotter Coral sent something for my birthday in April, and its July it never got here. I ordered a book in March and it never came. I also ordered a video game for the other half and it never came in.
They were all USPS

@TheHorse They don't get paid enough? They are stealing things? I don't know but I have read some stories about mail carriers hoarding packages and keeping them for themselves or opening them and then repackaging

@thislittlepennyearns Isn't that a Federal Crime, punishable by many years in prison? If they're not guitar players or woodworkers, they'll be disappointed by what they've stolen form me.

USPS service is atrocious and not to be trusted at all. I have had issues and lost items and had disputes with them.

If I don't get what I ordered online, I will contact the customer service online. Usually, they return my money.

I've never had anything shipped to me from USPS. Something is very strange. UPS once put a pair of custom-made earrings inside our barbecue grill on our back deck unbeknownst to us. We called the store in Philadelphia where they were made and paid for and were assured they were shipped by UPS. We didn't find them until my husband made steaks on the grill. So strange. I'd call and complain to USPS and the stores.

@thislittlepennyearns That is great. We are barely home when he comes to our house. Once, he left a package by our garage door and I ran over it when I backed out. I crushed a wooden bead on a blouse.

Luckily our ups guy knows me. So he usually makes sure its right where I can see it or knocks on the door till one of us answers if we are home?

As an online seller, I always have doubt whether I will receive the orders I have from my supplier.
I always check from time to time whether the items to be sent to me arrive on that specific date.
Thank God, I have no issues with receiving items and ordering items online.

Yes... I have ordered on-line and never received. For example, I ordered earrings last Black Friday as a Christmas present for a friend last Christmas. Never received. I contacted the seller atleast 3 times, only to be told to give them another week. Then, the company stopped all communication. grrrr or should I comment bah humbug?

Yes. A couple of years ago, my insurance agent collected a check for a specific sum 10000 bucks to be precise. He said he will get me the refund for balance. I believed him. It never came back. He said the company cashed it, and nobody is taking responsibility. I had similar experience with Amazon for some 10 or 20 dollars. The amount was not much so I preferred not to follow up.

That is very odd. I cannot think of what you should do. Too bad there is no way to track the packages. I know when I order from Amazon they give me a way to track my packages and I have always gotten the stuff. Perhaps you have a neighbor who is taking these things. A private eye might be in order

The only time I never got my mail was when I had neighbor taking it! He got caught when I left, took the car up the hill and hid it and walked back home, watched from the window. He was scared sh*tless when I hollared at him in a few cussing words.

Till now no. When I ordered anything online I got the product properly.
