Yes, I do.
For so many years I've heard the term "midwestern states" or s/he is from the midwest but I am still confused about how states clearly in the easterly part of My nation could be considered MidWestern.
It looks to me like a better term would be northeastern states.
What do you think?

I just thought that some of these so called midwest states were a lot closer to northeastern states, I mean Michigan in the midwest??? It looks like it should be northeastern instead.

Nope New England is the northeast so that doesn't work for the middle of the country lol

That makes more sense @just4him I know I'm in the southwest but then I am in the farthest western city in TX.
Some maps show a brown and green coloration for the two, eastern states and vicinities are always green and lush but when you get into the western half it's usually brown and dry, people around here grow trees on their own property but they have to water these trees just about every day to keep them alive, without the humidity that the eastern states gets trees easily wither and die.

@rebelann To me east is anything east of Ohio. West is anything west of the Mississippi River. So saying the states where I live are either, doesn't work for me. Central works better for me as when I look at the map, it looks like I'm in the north central part of the US.

Yeah I've often wondered why (when in MN) we're in the middle East and West - but we're called the midwest

Yes but you'd think they would update terminology given that the last state to be added was Hawaii @FayeHazel Alaska was added in 1959 also.
I just don't get why they don't make a distinction between what really is midwestern and whats actually north eastern.
Hmmmmm, lets blame the media
they usually muff things up so badly that no one really knows what the truth is, right?

I have often wondered exactly where mid-west is supposed to cover. It can be confusing. Fortunately, I am from the south-east!

And everyone knows where the southeast is. I just wonder where to draw the line. Is there a central south? I know I'm in the south west but then when I look at the map I get the feeling that out of all of TX El Paso is just about the only part that's Southwestern. Ok, maybe Van Horn is as well.

Neither did I but I kept reading about so and so is from the midwest or midwest accent or some other reference to midwest and when I saw someone mention Ohio I thought it odd because Ohio isn't near the mid or west.
Like you, I never saw a map that showed the midwest before and boy was I stunned.
Oddly enough, I consider myself to be in the southwest but I have yet to see a map with the southwest shown on it. I'm still looking for that one though.

You have a point and also some are MidNorthern states. All I know is St.Louis is the gate to the west, obviously because of the arch, but everything east of that should be considered Mideastern, but maybe no one wants to make it overly complicated.

Mid Northern makes sense as does southwest or southeast ..... it would be so much easier if we could simply say Up Yonder or Down Yonder or Out East or Out West, it'd eliminate the need for middles.

Just sayin, you know there's gotta be some jokers out there that think CA sunk cuz of an earthquake, right?
