Todays My Day For Spilling Things

United States
July 23, 2018 1:19pm CST
My day started with me spilling coffee grinds on my kitchen counter and floor. It created a mess but I cleaned it up and enjoyed my coffee when it was done. The day progressed uneventfully until it came time for lunch. I decided to make tuna sandwich and it was all fine and dandy until I tried to open the pickles. My daughter screwed the top on pretty tight so I had to use my muscles to twist it open. All of a sudden the top loosened and the pickle juice spilled all over the counter, the floor and my shirt. So, for the second time today both the counter and floor needed cleaning. Plus I had to change my shirt. My lunch was good but now I'm wondering what mess I'll make when it comes time to cook dinner

Oops, you are having quite an interesting Monday there aren't you? My day has been rather uneventful. I've puttered away here and there doing very little except pass the time. Now that you've mentioned supper, I should give some thought as to what we'll be having. Why don't you ask your daughter to make supper-just to be on the safe side?

@Marilynda1225 I thought of you when I was making supper. I made spaghetti and meat sauce and garlic bread and cheese. I haven't been eating too many carbs, but really made up for that with this meal. I hope that your meatloaf turned out uneventful as far as spills goes, but delicious just the same.

Unfortunately my daughter is working today and won't be home til between 6:30 and 7pm. Too late to start cooking and she'll be starving when she gets home. I'm making meatloaf so that should be safe

I hand tightly sealed jars to the men folk first. If they are unable to open it I will run it under hot water. That usually does the trick. I haven't spilled anything today that I am aware of but just give me time and I am sure I will.

No men folk around here so I probably should have either waited and not had the pickles or tapped the lid to loosen it. Live and learn as they say

@Marilynda1225 Ah well. Yes, tapping the jar works sometimes. I had a stubborn coconut oil jar that I had to put in boiling water before it released. I promptly put the oil in a different jar with a latch lid.

I would request you drink a beverage from a sippy cup.

I surprisingly haven't spilled anything today! Which is impressive, because I usually spill a ton. Hope you don't make a huge mess making dinner. :P

So far my meatloaf is in the oven and I haven't created any disaster. Keeping my fingers crossed

I loosen jar lids by tapping them lightly with the handle of a butter knife.

That's what I should have done but I wasn't thinking.

My husband often puts lids on too tight. I spilled the coffee grounds too, this morning.

Open jars is one of the banes of my existence. I usually end up wearing some of the content by the time I can get it opened.
