What a character!
Played by Tony Shalhoub this renowned former homicide detective on the San Francisco police force works as a private consultant for the force. When his wife was killed by a car bomb he was suspended from the force due to his grief and his OCD was intensified after her death. He has obsessive-compulsive disorder and undergoes therapy to try to over come his grief, take control of his many phobias and be reinstated as a detective. That is the storyline of the tv show, Monk.
I guess that such actors as John Ritter, Henry Winkler and even Michael Richards were considered for the role. I would love to have seen Michael Richards in the role. But, they made a great decision on Shalhoub. He does bring a lot of passion and humor to the role and that is what they were looking for.
I think his best assistant was the second one, Natalie Teeger.
He's got more ticks than a grave yard dog.
Have you watched this? I think it is a great show. It's on Hallmark channel weekday mornings.

That is one terrific show. Tony Shalhoub use to be on another series called "Wings.' He played a character called Antonio, an immigrant cab driver at the airport.

@celticeagle The show was a comedy. A typical sitcom like "Cheers."
The video is about my favorite character Antonio Scarpacci from the series Wings. He is such a lovely guy who sometimes seems to be a bit confused.
