My Son Showed Up

He was early for work and visited for a bit. He said he was mad at his dad for taking the cinnamon rolls recipe to his grave. I told him I had his cookbook and found the recipe and he said it was the one. He also vowed he would steel that cookbook from me. Not a wise plan on his part. Maybe I'll just scan the recipe for him. The cookbook was originally his father's and the only thing I kept besides a large cake pan from our divorce.
The other good thing about his visit is that he took the map I need him to transfer, so I can get it into the book. I'll get that back next week when I go to do laundry. Then I'll have everything ready for the book.
The picture is the one I scanned, that he took.
Have you ever thought you lost something you could never get back again? That only your parents or grandparents had, and you have no way of retrieving?
Thanks for reading.

I'm glad he stopped by to see you, and that you had the recipe for him.
As for your question, I'm not sure. My late Aunt found the ID bracelet my late Daddy bought for my Mom when they were dating though. It's not my experience, but I was glad she found it and gave it to her. :)

Yes, this is the one. He's going to do it. Thanks for the offer. He's going to clean it up and make it look nice. This is a bit messy, and not very good, but then I'm not an artist by any stretch of the imagination. I'm confident when he's done with it, it will be very good.

In my life moving from the states to Latvia and back to the states a lot of things have come and gone. I am looking forward to the boxes I will receive from Latvia. It will be like Christmas to see what exactly I have in there. I got too confused during the packing.

@just4him the boxes are coming by ship so should be here by sometime in September. It takes a full seven weeks.

@RasmaSandra That's a long time. It will be like getting something brand new by the time they arrive.

There are things i wish i had. Like a picture of my real dad and pictures still of my grandparents. At least my husband has stuff from his Mom that just passed including recipes that we now cherish more than ever

I fear losing family recipes. They are something I don't want to lose. I need to talk to my Mama about writing them down.

I hope you have more success than I did. I continually asked her for recipes, but she never gave them. I asked my sister if she found any when she was going through the house when we were getting ready to sell and she found some, and the ones I wanted. I was very happy to have them.

I have my mother's cookbooks and recipes but she rarely used a recipe so they are all in her head somewhere, we did get her to write down her crepe recipe and the baked beans.

My great-aunt's pasta fagioli recipe. She wrote it down for me once but I showed it to my mother after she passed away and my mom said that it wasn't right. She said that she lied and gave me the wrong one. I don't know why she wouldn't just give up the correct recipe. It isn't like she could take it with her where she was going.
I think I threw away what she had written down because I was so pissed.

Only the cookbook and the pan. I didn't want anything else.
