I deactivated my Facebook account. It seems I am receiving many posts that makes me get angry or disappointed. Another reason is, I want to rest from that social medium, but only for 3 days.
So here was a problem. When I deactivated my account, I was asked for my password. I typed a password, but it was incorrect. I put another and again it was wrong. I then requested for a code so I can put a new password. The code was sent to one of my mobile phones.
I was informed by the admin of Facebook about my latest password, but it was useless anymore. So I made another one.
It was a surprise because the previous password is encrypted in my phone. So now, I again changed the password and added the new one in my phone, again encrypted.
After I logged in successfully, I then deactivated my account. Now, I have myLot friends to interact with, with my undivided attention.
But of course, my FB messenger is still active.

may i ask if there is any given time of inactivity on facebook that will render an account deleted already?

@ridingbet I have had that account for about a decade or more. I check it out every 2-3 years
. Some years I come more frequently if some friends asked me specifically to do so but other than that, I ignore FB. (My account seems to be OK so far.)

You can opt for hiding posts of anyone that you do not wish to see rather than deactivating your account. In my case I do not go there any more but continue getting posts.

i was able to deactivate my account last night, but then, i tried reactivating it again and it was successful. when i tried deactivating again, the site did have problems in processing my request.

Wow only 3 days. I had deactivated my Facebook once before but it lasted for months and the only reason I activated it again was when some of my family members moved to new jersey and was using it as a means of communication. But you won't see me browsing on facebook unless if I'm searching for a local shop or services and their phones numbers.

@ridingbet I cannot believe how people can be rude. I have limited my Facebook account only to close friends and family, so I do not have this problem.

@ridingbet I know that FB is a dangerous site, this is why I am so careful there. I do not trust the site at all.

i have blocked many persons there already. one is a former elementary classmate, a male, because he was so rude in informing me about excluding him from suggesting candy crush games. hahaha. i find it funny because he did that to me, but i was so disappointed because he seemed to have forgotten that i was his classmate before. his words were so unbecoming of a man.
i remember: i banned a male Indian because he was already intimidating me when infact, we never saw each others' faces, no videocalls or skypes.

I just remove/hide their post when I find it inappropriate for my wall. Or I can block them too!

i can hide many posts especially those about man's cruelty to animals, and one more thing is about a person who keeps on flaunting his esteem. but 3 days will pass by so quickly so no problem for me anyway.

Facebook can be a complete waist of time for many people. I was so upset that one of my friends wants me to come to his leaving party. He is moving from England to Portugal. I find Facebook is a site I am spending much less time on. I go onto it to see messages from friends on there. Well done for getting rid of Facebook except for Facebook Messenger.

@maximax8 thank you. actually, i had another rough time deactivating using my mobile phone because when i deactivate it, the admin asks for what reasons of deactivation. when i finished the questions and pressed deactivate, it cannot be done. so what i did was logged out, and this will be for 3 days.

the 3-day deactivation is a test for me if i can tolerate not logging in on FB. anyway, the messenger can keep me informed and updated about other people or friends.

i don't have fb, but what i hear is you can make it public or private. would making it private help reduce the posts you receive, instead of deactivating it?
secondly, i thought deactivating fb means you don't have an account anymore. so what does it mean when you deactivate your account, but your messenger is still active?

my setting is public, but i do not 'like' many posts so they do not send me their latest updates. deactivating an account is self-explanatory. it renders an account inactive. my account is still there, only, i am not active.
deletion is the permanent manner of cancelling an account.
my messenger is still active so i can communicate with other friends and family members.

@Missmwngi it is. if you have a Facebook account, why not try to deactivate it, and you will read the notification that even if your FB account is deactivated, your messenger remains as it is.

why hija? you deactivated your account before, in 2016, because i made a discussion about that in this site. why do you plan to totally delete it? or maybe you will make a new account again?

@redurnet for us here, our Facebook accounts are always logged in because we have WiFi connection at home. when we are out of our house, we do log in on FB as always.

@ridingbet Yes, it is difficult as so many other sites are linked up to Facebook and ask you to login through your Facebook account.

@Jessabuma it can be. a student who just graduated and sent me friend request on messenger is still in my phone. another classmate in high school wanted to be friends with me but i did not respond to her because she was not in the same section as me and i barely know her

Cool. I deactivated everything and just concentrate on the ones I like. You don't have to delete something because others indirectly want you to. Like for example, supposing I'm not liking it here, I can just check out other sites. But I don't necessarily have to delete my account because the ones who supposedly affect you with comments or discussions; like they are not the myLot owners. Hence, if I were you, I will also deactivate if I don't want to be active anymore. But do it because you want to; not because of people who try to bring you down. Like they don't even pay the bills for us. SO, why should we delete something because of what people think, say, or comment. Have a good time myLotting.

i do not always read the comments, like in this site. i write my comments first before browsing over the post. if i see a post or watch a graphic material posted on FB, i automatically delete or block the sender of the post.

When someone writes things that are upsetting I put them on the silent mode and then they can still see my posts and interact but I don't have to listen to all their crazy posts and they never know the difference.

the horrible hurting of humans to the poor animals like dogs (left in the highway) makes me temporarily deactivate my account there. i do not want really to watch so i usually block these posts, to which my son agreed.
