Metabolism is actually a chemical reactions in the body which keeps your body functioning. It is also used along with metabolic rate and the number of calories you burn. Having a high metabolism means you are able to burn more calories and keep weight off. There are several ways to boost the metabolism such as eating spicy foods or drinking green and oolong teas. Adding more protein to your diet can help you to burn more calories and help you burn more calories. A lack of sleep can change the way you process sugar and decrease the number of calories you burn. More muscle mass will result in higher metabolism. Lifting weights is a good exercise to add to the ones you normally do.

Lifting weights and adding muscle is an excellent way to boost basal metabolic rate. You burn more calories even sleeping when you have more muscle. I don't really know that eating spicy foods or drinking tea has that much of an effect overall.

@celticeagle anyone can post stuff on the internet. I don't think it is necessarily true. If that was the case, then all Mexicans would be thin, no?

@NJChicaa ......But if some Mexicans eat more corn tortillas that spicy foods that could be a problem and cause more weight. Not ALL Mexicans eat ALOT of spice.

My metabolism is higher than normal actually. So I burn calories faster without doing anything. That's why I have to eat double than I usually would so I wouldn't lose weight fast.

For many years my metabolism was slow. I'd gain weight drinking water! Now my metabolism is in better balance and I'm lovin' it!
