I Fought the Yawns

But the yawns won. I had a nice three hour nap. I must have been tired. I woke with a tune on my mind - I fought the law, but the law won, only it was I fought the yawns, but the yawns won. I really thought I would make it through the morning without a nap. I wasn't tired when I got home from shopping, and I wasn't tired when I finished breakfast. I was almost through the notifications when it happened. Not just one yawn, not even a small nondescript yawn, but a big wide mouth yawn, several of them, and I knew I had to close down or fall asleep on the keyboard. I was surprised to open my eyes three hours later. It sure didn't feel like three hours. But that's what the clock showed. I did find out from my friend, I won't be doing anything with her today. I messaged her early on FB. She does something interesting, and asked if I would like to join her. She gets information from a website from people who want to know where their family is buried. So, she looks up the information, goes to the cemetery, takes a picture of the headstone, and sends that information to the person. It's all volunteer. When she first asked me a month or so ago, I was intrigued, and told her yes. Many years ago when I was young and not quite as mature as I am now, I was in Boot Camp, on what was called Boot Liberty in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I had a lot of fun exploring the city. One thing I did, was visit old churches and cemeteries. The headstones were fascinating, many of them pre-dating the Revolutionary War. So, when she asked if I would like to join her, I told her yes. One of these days, I'll do that with her, but not right now. She over exerted herself on Saturday, and is looking at surgery by the end of the month. She just had neck surgery a couple months ago. Now, it looks like she aggravated her neck and back, re-injuring it. Anyway, that said, I'll be staying home today, working notifications, and then getting work done on Thread of Evidence. I hope to start the publishing process by the weekend. Though, I won't get anything done, if I keep writing this post. I hope you've had a good day so far. Thanks for reading. Another picture from the Botanical Gardens.

A good nap can make all the difference when you need it. I think that finding the graves and taking a picture is a wonderful thing to do.

I'm looking forward to it when she can do it. Yes, naps make a huge difference. I wonder why we didn't think that way when we were kids fighting naps.

@BelleStarr So, do I. I slept in this morning, so it's not likely I'll get one today.

You did the right thing by napping and also letting your friend await surgery. Ouch!

@just4him I shuddered when I heard about her having to re-do her neck surgery. I instantly thought of my husband. I still have to look into the pool at my gym. I hope the schedule won't interfere with my walking. I'm so happy you enjoy it so much!

@DianneN That reminds me, I need to order a new suit. There's a 45% off sale according to the e-mails. I need to take advantage of that. I put my thumb through the lining this morning, so it's time. Though, it's not another size down, yet, but soon. Maybe I should buy two.

She has no choice. I feel for her. I know when we do go out to the cemeteries, it will be fun, but her health comes first and she's had a time of it with the neck surgery she had not too long ago. I feel like a new person and the time in the pool feels like another time and place.

My dad and I use to frequent old cemeteries, I loved the family history behind them! I love your photo, how nice:) Here's a photo of Jay when the bike marathon was over. This is Emily Jean, the six year old cancer victim, after she hung the medal around his neck:)

@just4him My dad was always interested in old cemeteries and family history. His two sisters flew to Scotland, to see old church graveyards and to look for the tombstones of relatives.

I often feel like a nap but try not to have one every day as I will sleep better at night if I'm tired. How you publish your stories is intriguing to me and I would love to hear about that someday on myLot. I used to write for several content mills and even started a book but never sit down to finish it. Good for you!

Thank you. Perhaps I should write a post on how I publish my books. I self-publish. It can be a lot of work, but it's exciting to get it published.

That song crossed my mind once too. So I titled my post afterwards, "I Fought the Squash, and the Squash Won". Oh, it's bad when you aggravate an injury right after surgery!
