Thoughts of a home-based working mom on a rainy day

My thoughts to my fellow people who got affected of these monsoon rains. God bless you all.

hello there mylotters! I'm just new here and I hope I can have more discussions with you about anything under the sun. It's nice to have an online community like this where you can share thoughts and experiences across the globe without spending money to travel. We'll I'm working home-based now and I'm on my 2nd week of staying at home full time (blame it on the rainy season here in Manila), like i was only able to go as far as 2 blocks away from my house for like 5 mins then rush going home again because of surprise rain showers. I'm still getting the hang of this until now. Working from home has its pros and cons like anything else. The thought of working at the comfort of your home is so good, right? you don't need to hustle and bustle with the crowd stuck in the heavy traffic while rain is pouring hard. i will also have more time with my kid. like i get the chance to see him anytime when he's smiling at sleep. But then again, it makes me miss the outside world. I have been in my little house for 2 weeks! Not been able to see anything different Watching the news at the end of the day is like me peeping through the window just to see what's going on.. I can only see sad views. Here's a sample pic (© to https://www.facebook.com/MarikinaPIO/) And now as I'm ending these thoughts, rain pouring hard again . Stay safe everyone!

Welcome to myLot! It is sad to see our community like destroyed by the storm and flood. I feel sad about the people and their properties. I also work from home and I rarely go out of the house. Thank God that my internet is not affected by the storm.

Hi @lady1993 you can choose part time/full time. either way, you can just manage your time to keep up w/ your social life. If only monsoon rain gives us a break, I'll surely take my little iLay to the nearby park.

@rettemich I sure hope the weather becomes a bit better there too. I hear from my co workers that the flood still hasn't lowered until now

I guess that is one of the advantages of a work at home career. You are safe in your home almost everyday and your job is to do whatever task you need to complete by your employer. I am contemplating if I could find one in the near future. I am contemplating on getting early retirement and just do a WAH job too. But I feel that what I earn right now will not be enough when I try WAH job. I hope I can overcome this fear so that like you, can make or earn money while at the comfort of your home anytime and in any weather condition.

@rsa101, dont worry, you can always find one should you decide to do WAH someday. and if ever you feel it's not for you, you can always shift careers. Overcome your fears...

Hello Kabayan! Welcome! I assume you are from the Philippines, right? So you are working at home now as what? I tell you working at home is worth it, seeing your kid/s grow up and never miss a thing unlike when in the office. You normally missed the most important events in their life. But i fell you, it is a struggle when you are used to working outside then suddenly you are just home alone in the four corners of you home. But it will pass.

Hi @rakski, You're right kabayan. The little moments that you cant afford to miss like seeing them smile while asleep, his first step, first word and lots of "firsts" to come.

@rettemich true. I gave up my work 5 years ago, I am happy. The setbacks are no social life, but this one you can always do with your friends. I am never really up close and personal to my colleagues anyway.

Welcome to Mylot and hope that you will enjoy it here with all of us coming from different countries. A little favor please: Could you separate your text into paragraphs? It would make it so much easier to read it. Thanks,
