After confessing what I haven't seen, it's time for part two of this look at classic movies and go with the big films that I actually DID see. And just when you were starting to worry about me! THE best line from the previous countdown came from Andria, who asked if I was Amish and had no TV after I listed Rocky.
This may show that I actually have seen a thing or two...or ten! Here's the first one.
#10: The Lion King
PLOT: Lion cub gets to crocodile rock, joins Simba and the Jets, then discovers Saturday night's all right for fighting.
Or, Elton John's Oscar. Man, can you feel the love tonight???
Actually, that's not why I saw it. I saw it in my ENT doctor's waiting room while waiting. Yes, the whole thing. And the start of another Disney flick.
If you ever saw Bambi (yes, I did), you know that Disney dramas usually have to have someone die in them (Ol' Yeller, anyone?). In this case, Mufasa, Simba's dad and king of the area known as Pride Rock, is killed by his brother, Scar (no relation to our Scar, who prefers living slave hoomins to dead ones). Simba flees, adopting a philosophy of "hakuna matata," and Scar sets about ruining the kingdom. Eventually Simba returns, kicks butt, and takes the throne that's rightfully his.
All with some cool Elton John music in the background.
Just remember, though: this isn't typical EJ. Bernie didn't write these lyrics.
The Lion King
Directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff
Released in 1994

I saw that show when it came out.
It was the very first movie that we took our son to see, and he loved it.
Before too long everything in the house was Lion King, his birthday party theme, story books, drinking tumblers and the list goes on...…..

I did see this one. Nice story. Brought back all those Disney memories of Bambi and Snow White. EJ worked well with Tim Rice to create the music for this movie soundtrack.

I love The Lion King. I would love to see the musical. I also loved Bambi. I can't stand Ol' Yeller.
