Yes, it's his birthday, but I don't think he will enjoy it much. He will spend at least part of the day at the Department of Motor Vehicles trying to get an earlier appointment to renew his driver's license than the one I was able to get him online today for Sept 10. His license expires today and he has to take the written test. He started studying yesterday. I'm worried.
I have been reminding him he needed to make the appointment since the beginning of August, but instead of listening to me, he believed some guy he met at DMV when he was picking up the law booklet they give you to prepare. That guy said they don't let you make an appoint until almost the day of the expiration. But Hubby wouldn't listen to me when I said he needed to make it ahead because it takes time to get the appointment. The site says you can make the appointments within 90 days of the expiration date.
So here we are. I don't think he'll get an appointment for tomorrow because the site says you can never get a same day appointment if you go to the office. I can only pray it's wrong because his license expires today.
That means he will drive without a license or he will expect me to take him everywhere he needs to go. At least he has no medical appointment before September 10, but he should swim. Perhaps I'll make him suffer by insisting if I drive him he'll have to go to the pool four blocks away instead of fifteen miles away.
I'm trying to make him understand that if he drives without a license he could get into serious trouble if he gets a ticket or has an accident. I'm just hoping he can get an appointment earlier than Sept 10. It never used to be this bad at DMV.
Why is it men take the advice of a stranger over the advice of a wife?
In the photo my husband is driving out of the gate of our Templeton property and I'm parked outside waiting for him to drop me off. I walked up to the house because I don't like driving the road in the condition it's in. I rode back up with him.

Why I never get married miss lady. Not because I do no want to take advice from a wife, but somehow everything gets twisted because probably been together for so long. You guys are like does this person really have my best interest at heart?
I know its playful until its not. I do think its neat though you guys have it worked out because can tell how you write it. You just kidding one an other. Me, I get paranoid easy. 
Congrats on his birthday, I hope to make it that long. Very neat to live a full life. Lets hope we all do it better in the future so most of the youngsters can experience that.

@bagarad Indeed, I myself am jealous of what you guys had back then. I remember when I had it and then I could literally see it changing. In a way that is kind of worse because kids do not understand how it used to be as far as that. They think what they have now is true freedom. Its a slippery slope indeed.

@crossbones27 Yes. They are being fed misinformation in school and think liberty means doing just as you please and squashing people who disagree with you. I know that true liberty has to be under law to keep things peaceful and productive.

@bagarad ahhh ok so no fines anyway, it is just that he has to be watchful if he drives with an expired license.

@LadyDuck My husband likes to swim at the fitness club 15 miles away daily if he can. (We have a branch of the same club where he could swim in just as large a pool three blocks away. ) He also likes to stop at the other house on the way home to get mail and check on things and sometimes stop at a store in that direction to get things we are out of. Often he has to check on people he's hired to do work on our Templeton property. He needs to drive everywhere he goes because we don't have decent public transportation to get to our other house or to his gym. He can't walk more than a short distance. That's why he swims for exercise. I'm the one who stays home unless I have an appointment somewhere or need to shop. He has twice as many medical appointments than I do. We often have to be different places at the same time. It's a major inconvenience when one of us is without a car.

The rich doctor who lives across the street. I think he has vineyards now that he has retired, or maybe he rents part of his land to the neighbors who own wineries.

Everyone in my family do take advises from strangers.. Mom makes her mind on opinions of her colleagues.. My father is influenced by his friend circle and my brother lives in his own world.. It is just me that deal with these unique people and do whatever they want.. And happy birthday to your husband, though I am late..
