Retail - a tough occupation

It’s not easy being employed in retail. Dealing with unrealistic expectations all day, rude customers who treat staff earning minimal wages badly. The other downside the lack of weekends and family time.
Do customers ever consider that everyone is trying their best and having their own personal issues while trying to smile?
What makes a great shopping experience?

Yuck i worked retail for about 7 years before switching to government jobs. Which I am a total fan of. But retail can be fun, sometimes... I always tried to keep it light and friendly with customers, even the ones off their rockers! Do you work in retail?
