So I threw myself across the aisle, tripping the waitress, and watching as water, tea, beer and soda flew everywhere!

No, I didn't actually do that but I was tempted to. Not trip her, mind, but stop her. I understand it gets busy, I understand that she's doing a million things at once, but it seems like no matter the waitress, we always end up waiting between ordering our drinks, and placing our food order. On occasion we get our food ordered, but then wait an inordinate amount of time before we get it. I said something, not too loud, but apparently loud enough that the waitress heard me. About how I wish she'd come over so that we could place our orders. Thirty seconds later the man who sat us came to take our order. Like I said, I understand when things are busy, but she took a table across from ours drink order, and we were ready to order. We had the menu's out on the table in the "Hey we're ready" position, and she walked off, got their drinks, came back gave them to them, and walked off again without checking to see if we were ready. The little things, It's the little things that bug me the most.

You should stop going there and find somewhere else.

My only problem with the place is that it can be hard to get the attention of the waitress. Some waitresses are better than this one, whom we've only had a time or two. There was a guy there today that I assumed to be the manager. If it gets worse then I'll go somewhere else, but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

@NJChicaa I'll put up with it to a certain degree, but not some things. I had a waitress talk back to me once and I let her know that wasn't cool. We go back to the place because she was the only problem. Now we have a different waitress, one who we prefer much more than any other. She's friendly, efficient, and anticipates our needs.

that would bug me too. so happy I don't have those issues where I go. I would've said something louder and probably meaner.

I like my food not spat in. The table across from us, probably seeing my mild irritation (and hearing it as well), was smart enough to say "Hey we're ready to order!" to the waitress (same as ours) when she was going by. These were teenagers, or college kids.

@Courtlynn I would have given her a lower tip, but I wasn't footing the bill.

@ScribbledAdNauseum as do I, but I also like my order taken when It should be. but that's also when their tip comes into play.

@infatuatedbby I am sure it has. I've not done it though. In all honesty, I wouldn't have been able to get out of the booth in time, or stretch my leg out in time.

No, I wouldn't really do it. Though I might think about it for awhile.

And that is why this should be the very last time that you go there to eat.

No. I will go back. Everything else is fine, and while we have had a wait, this is the first time a waitress has seemingly ignored us. I do think the manager was there tonight, and so I imagine the waitress will get a talking to. He had to help us twice. I know from a friend that latino restaurants can sometimes be very strict on their staff. If it continues like this, then I'll stop going. I've already stopped going to one restaurant because the owner made me feel uncomfortable.

I really hate places like that. Time for a change for you.

Everyone keeps saying that! I was agitated at the time, and it certainly came across in the way I wrote my discussion, but I don't think I'll have to find a new mexican restaurant. As it is, this one I've only gone to a handful of times. There food is excellent, the prices aren't too terribly bad. It's just the interval between ordering drinks and ordering food that is the pain. I am hoping that will be remedied soon. I wonder if the man I saw (and whom helped us) was a manager. When I made that statement about waiting for an order, it wasn't thirty seconds later that he took the order for us.

But you're not wrong. That's the thing. Staff needs to be attending to customer's needs, and if there aren't enough staff to do it properly, they need to hire more staff.
