My boy's first year of high school

Our grandson Nathan (the one who lived with us after his mom passed away from the time he was 2 until he was 9) started 9th grade this week, his freshman year in high school.
After he got home (he lives with his dad about an hour away), I called him to see how his first day had gone.
He assured me it went well, not much going on just yet.
The next day I called him again when he got home.
I told him, "You know of course, that I'm going to call you every afternoon of your entire freshman year, don't you?"
He replied, "I would expect nothing less."
We had a good laugh. That's my boy.

Thank you. It was taken on his last birthday when he turned 15.

There's a strong family resemblance between you and Nathan. Hope he enjoys his freshman year and has some exciting news when you call

Thanks. But like most teenagers, there's not always a lot of excitement to tell about.

Thanks, Valerie. High school can be hard for some kids.

That was awesome that you took care of him all those years.

It was never a burden, but a blessing. I had to pray for extra energy, but we wouldn't have had him with anyone else.

Aren't grandkids great? The ones we help raise are extra special, I love them all but my boy is 29 now but I had him from 5-15 and he is like one of my kids in some ways more than a grandkid.

I know exactly how you feel. I love all our grands, but Nathan and I have a special bond.
