This past Thursday I received my new nebulizer and a few samples of the medication I need for it. The doctor called in the prescription that same morning so I could pick it up that same day. It is now Sunday and I still don't have my medication. After the pharmacy fiddled around with my insurance (part D) for a couple of days or so I called and tried to find out what was going on. Finally this morning I talked to someone who helped me with this issue. It turns out that the pharmacy has to fill out a form and submit it to Medicare part B. It turns out they want to make sure I am not using it for pneumonia. I assured them I am not. It is going to be a maintenance drug for me. We finally got through the red tape and they will be covering the payment for most of the bill. I am so grateful for the pharmacist who actually listened to me and got the results I needed. Boy oh boy, getting old sure isn't for sissies is it?

What a complicated system you have. Once a doctor signs a prescription here, the pharmacist has nothing to ask or to say and not even the Medical Insurance.

I wish it was that way here. I find that when you have to take life-saving (they call them that here) medications they tend to question it. I take a few and cannot do without them. I have a problem every time. They are so expensive.

@HazySue All life saving medications are 100% covered by the healthcare system, the doctor sends the prescription to the pharmacy you only need to collect the medications.

Sorry that you had to go through all this. We have a simpler system here.

I wish we did. It gets pretty frustrating at times.

What if you'd had an attack and needed the medication while they were stuffing around? It's pretty bad the way some treat their clients.

I wonder the same thing. It's too bad that insurances are so concerned about the bottom line.
