I just heard about it on MSNBC. So sad to hear about this, but he was one of the greats in the show biz world. I am sure a lot of people are missing him across the world.

@velvet53 I saw a gentleman today and had to do a double take. He looked like he could have been Burt Reynolds.

Many of his movies were just FUN. I remember him as Dan August, too.

The only thing I can really remember him from is Smokey and The Bandit, but I am not much of a t.v. person.

Yes, he is such a household name, it's almost hard to believe that he was an older gentleman.

He was a talented actor. I am sure I've seen him in other things, but the one thing I can remember him from is Smokey and The Bandit series. I just don't watch that much television, and havent' in years.

Yes, I was surprised to hear this. I remember him in "Deliverance" and "Longest Yard." Also on TV from Gunsmoke reruns. He was not only able to play a dramatic role but humorous roles with equal skill!

I wouldn't have believed it if it hadn't been on MSNBC. Things on facebook, and even here, I don't always believe. I suppose, and I know this is in poor taste, I'd probably get money for the smokey and the bandit dvd now. Though, if you want to buy it from me, I intend to list it on ebay afterwhile. Probably for $3.75 or around that price.
