What are they doing now against bullying?

I have heard lately about many bullied children who drop out of school, others that start to be homeschooled, some that even commit suicide.
What I don´t hear is what parents and authorities are doing against bullies.
If bullies faced public disgrace, if bullies parents faced fines, wouldn´t it change a bit?
In this society when a parent cannot spank softly a kid on its butt to make him behave, bullies can drive other children to death.
I think that is as terrible as pedophilia and other horrible behaviours in which children are the victims.
What do you think about this?

It seems that now, parents who are too busy to raise their kids as they should, don´t want anyone to stop their little angels to do what they want. This is where good people should be protected instead of those bad ones.

@LadyDuck They are also in the race for money. They don´t have values, not the ones we had.

@marguicha You are right, some parents are giving no education to their kids and not even teaching good manners.

@porwest You may have some reason there. But unfortunately, not every child is strong. I am no Bill Gates, but I was bullied as a child and it did not harm me.

@marguicha The bully does NOT win and there is story after story to prove that. Look at Bill Gates when he was a kid. Look at him when he started Microsoft. I am SURE he was bullied. But he became the richest man in the world. Bullies DO NOT succeed. They DO NOT win. Society just wants us to believe that, and instead of breeding strong children, we coddle them, and ONLY WHEN we do that do the bullies win. The parents who pull their kids up from their boostraps and NOT allow their kids to be victims get somewhere.

I know that bullies have always existed because I was bullied when I was a child. But children now and more cruel and they use the internet and their smartphones as part of their weapons.

That is even worse. I don´t know if that can be traced and the perpetrators brought to justice.

I can see why many kids kill themselves when authority figures or relatives ignore these pleas for help. The only way I know to beat bullies is to have an authority person step in assist the victims.

I absolutely agree with you. Bullies need to be stopped. I do think that we should not only help the victims, but we also have to punish the bullies (and probably their parents).

@Deepizzaguy I have read interesting responses to this post. Maybe that makes us think about the problem a little bit more.

I was bullied in school. So what? That's what I think about that. For me it motivated me to be bigger than the bullies. This whole bullying thing is a bunch of garbage if you ask me. Grow up, do what you want, pursue your life and goals. The bullies are low-lifes and will be into their adulthood. If you want something, go after it, don't let anyone pull you down, and achieve. Look at all of these "nerds" and "geeks" who have started multi-billion dollar tech companies. Do you think the bullies succeeded or the nerds? Grow up, pull your pants up, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and DO something!

Some children grow to be bigger than the bullies. I was one of them. But some children can´t get over it.

That is a very interesting question. It must also be difficult for the parents but whatever decisions they make they have to make them to be what is best for the children. Makes me wonder what would happen if someone set up a public debate on TV parents against parents of bullies. I think the problem is that not too many adults understand the situation as it is for kids and making it very public might help everyone.

I cannot imagine that adults are unaware of this problem
