I enjoy nature in my backyard. The birds are one of my favorites, along with the flowers of course. This time of the year (starting into fall), the flowers are on their way out. But the birds remain.I keep a tray of mostly striped sunflower seeds on the deck. Many birds love these including cardinals, bluejays and doves. I enjoy the bluebirds in the spring. This year a new bird has been spotted at my deck. Always so exciting to see new birds. It is called an Eurasian Collared Dove. It is a light gray, almost white with a black band around his neck. Such a beautiful bird to watch land on my deck. Today I counted 25 at one time! Keeps me busy as you have to provide clean water as well. Nature is so worth the extra work involved. And it is very therapeutic for my personally.

25 of them no less!!
You are fortunate to have the birds around you Carol.
They are so precious and they certainly do cheer us up.
I had never heard nor seen that type of dove.
I remember my Mother RIP holding me up to the window as a child to look at the birds.
Anytime I see birds, I think of her.
I am so glad that she shared that with me.

You can eat at the garden, watch the birds around, listen to their twits, see how they interact with each other. It is so nice to watch how they fly around the trees...Like a good screen saver on the pc. :-)
Do you get to see eggs from the birds ? Sometimes an egg is dropped down on our garden, Mayna birds has turquoise eggs. The Mayna birds can immitate sounds they hear, I always try to whistle around them to see if they immitate me.

I have seen other doves but not with the same colour they are more copper coloured.
Yes they have a very big wing span when flying.
