Please stop singing!

So as usual I am trying to calm down from recent events here by watching Big Brother live feed . This is the USA show and I don't know if this is what goes on in the other countries Big Brother shows so this may only apply to ours. No one is allowed to sing on the program Why I don't know. I have tried to figure it out and even searched to no avail. One of the house guests there will just get out a few words of a song and a loud voice will say "please stop singing! " Some house guests do this several times a day and I have no idea why they keep trying when they know it's a rule. But does anyone have any idea why it is a rule at all? Makes no sense to me. My little pogo mini here in the photo always reminds me of that song "singing in the rain".

I'm not sure if I'm right but I think it anyone sings on tv they have to pay and have permission from the artist or licensing etc. I'm curious now to see if anyone else knows why.

yes i thought that too at first but other reality programs and such have people singing famous songs etc. not to mention that at times they just make up a lyric and still get yelled at and this year one of them, JC, does it a lot.

@wolfgirl569 i guess. it just seems strange that they are not even allowed to sing stuff tgey made up themselves. just no tunes.

@bunnybon7 But they might have got the permissions needed as that is what the show is based on.

@Marilynda is probably right about copyright and licensing of music if the house guests sing.

this part is not on the program they put on tv show for the hour. it is on the live 24/7 screening cameras we can jump in and watch any time of their daily living and habits etc.

@bunnybon7 How carefully is it censored regarding what you wind up seeing, or is there any filter at all?

usually you only hear or notice it if you are watching the live cameras behind the scenes they don't show on the program. it shows what they do all day and all night. etc.

@YrNemo that is likely what happened. i think some just watch part of one that isn't a good episode and miss out on all the fun and excitement of the rest of them.

@bunnybon7 I did wonder about that a long time ago when I first watched it. Not a lot of music involved even back then. (But didn’t watch it again & thought I just happened to see a bad episode at the time.)

Maybe it is a combination of things. I know that churches that broadcast live and have music have to have a license to do it. With the made up stuff, well either it may just be easier to say "no singing" than to sort it, or it may be that it was messing with some of their equipment.

yes i think i have it figured out even though they never explained it yet. they now let them sing ones they made up. shockingly

I assume it has to do something with licenses from the original artist. I find myself singing often and my kids ask me to stop so I can imagine being in a house like that where everything is recorded how hard it might be for some people to not sing even though it's against the rules.

strange, lately they have said nothing about some songs they made up and been singing. maybe production just gave in
