A Reason for Everything that Happens

Do you believe there is a reason for everything that happens? I grew up in church and was taught that God has a plan and a reason for everything. I believed this for many years. Then when I lost my child it all went out the window. I am not sure what I believe any more. How can anyone say there is a reason you lost your child... he is in a better place... etc etc etc.? Apparently the ones who say this have never lost a child. Sometimes the less you say is better. Listening and being there for those who grieve is so important. Your thoughts? Do you believe in God's plan? Why would he take a child? My world? If that is correct, I do not want any part of that plan.

I do not believe it was God´s plan to take your child from you. I do believe there is a God, but to have a child die before you do is the ultimate loss. It is not something I think I would have an answer for or that I would be able to bear at all.

@CarolDM I would be curious to know what indeed the answer is myself. It is cruel though.

I am not religious, I do not know if everything happens for God's will. How can we humans know? Many (too many) times when I read some news I scream WHY?

I think things happen for a reason. Often, we don't know the purpose of a loss because we can not see things from an overall perspective.

Can you tell me your opinion of why someone loses their child? What reason could that be for? Heartbreak and a forever nightmare for me. Just wondering.

There are times that I feel the same way and honestly all I know is that God made a promise to us and he said those who survive til the end will have eternal life . One day I believe all of the evil will be over and will be happy in heaven.

I hope so but what about my son? That is my million dollar question, why was he taken at 16. Unanswered questions are the worst.

I am not religious and never have been. My mum was quite religious so I did go to church and sunday school and such but never really believed...I've even read the whole bible I do not personally believe there is some great plan I believe we go through life and its twists and turns are based on our choices, circumstance and luck...and a lot of other stuff. I can't see any positives from the loss of a child but I know many religious people would disagree and I can see why but, on this area, I'll keep my mouth shut.

Mike, I used to believe that like I said but not any more either. That is why I have so many unanswered questions. I should have kept my post to myself actually.
