I see my first sphynx cat

While I was at the Perth Royal Show in Western Australia helping my nephew with his goats, I was able to have some time to look around at the various attractions at the showground. I spent some time in the cat pavilion where a number of cat breeds had been judged earlier.
I was pleased that there were a lot of posters containing information about the various breeds but also about cat care in general. There was also photos and information of rescue cats available for adoption. I felt a bit sorry for the cats as their cages weren’t very big and I felt sure they wouldn’t be particularly happy about being confined. They were there at least three days. One had burrowed him/herself under his/her bedding and you could see very little of him/her.
The cat that intrigued me the most was the sphynx, which is a hairless cat although the skin is the colour of the coat type. So you can have tabby or tortoiseshell sphynx’s just as you can in furred breeds. Because they have no fur, they feel the cold and may need coats in cold weather.
Good examples of the breed will have wedge-shaped heads with prominent cheekbones, large, lemon-shaped eyes and very large ears. They also have thicker than normal paw pads and a whiplike, tapering tail. They are known for the extroverted behaviour and one of those breeds that seem to have a lot of dog-like traits.
I could only get a photo through the bars. For myself, I prefer a moggy with fur myself.

They are totally cool looking cats. I love the cats that have the Scottish folds for ears. Some cats have crinkly fur as well.

Thank you. It is spooky isn't it? It would go well as a witch's cat.

He does and apparently there are coats for them to wear in winter.

I think so too and if you bought a fur coat it would look much more natural. Maybe it would look good in a zebra faux fur.

I have only seen pictures of them. The only thing I like is the shape of their face and eyes. If you could add fur then I would love to have one.

Do you have enormous ears? Or funny eyes? I won't ask if you're bald. That would be rude.

Saw one like that a few years back in my backyard (for about 3 years), then no more. Guess the owner moved house again (as is the case with many families around here, once their children finished with high school). I remembered thinking, 'Gee Gosh, that cat is ugly!'
