my day has taken a different turn

I discovered a little bit ago that one of the kids wet the bed in the middle of the night. Not a big deal, things will wash, but his pillows were soaked and they won't fit in my washing machine. So here we are now at the laundromat, using their much bigger washing machines and hoping for the best. I have baking soda sprinkled heavily over the offending wet area and will vacuum that up when I get home. I found a suggestion on Pinterest for cleaning urine stains off of a mattress using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and one drop of dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle. I might give that a try as well. Have any of you tried this? On the plus side, the laundromat is near the new Dunkin Donuts. Maybe I'll walk over and get some iced coffee.

No I have not tried any of that method to clean urine stains. I hope it works for you. I find blue Dawn seems to handle most things. Hope you get your iced coffee.

I'm adding a drop of blue Dawn to the solution.

I've used that solution on other things, but not on urine. I would definitely run out and buy new pillows.

I never had the occasion to try that trick, I hope it works, I think it should.

I hope you went and got that Dunkin. I've heard of the peroxide and baking soda working but never heard of dish soap. Though i hope it does.

@spiderdust I saw, a bit after commenting. Glad you got it.

There's a picture of me in the comments, drinking my iced coffee. I think the single drop of dish soap is to break the surface tension of the liquid.

Oh no. I’d chuck the pillows and buy new ones.

They actually washed pretty well. I'm more concerned about the mattress since the cover was off.

I've done the mattress thing when we were living in a hotel a few years ago.
