Camping Trip Back On

The camping trip to Carolina Beach State Park my son and I had planned for this weekend appeared to have been cancelled due to Hurricane Florence. As the notification on the Park's website still said "Closed Until Further Notice" as of early yesterday morning, I decided to call at lunch yesterday and cancel our reservation. In the middle of the call, the nice young lady on the other end of the phone informed me that the Park had opened that very morning at 8am, including most of the campground, and the site we'd reserved was, indeed, available. I immediately cancelled my request to cancel my reservation. I then called the Park Office directly to let them know we were coming and ask if they needed any volunteers to help with continued clean up efforts as my son and I would like to do all we can to help while we are there. I was told to check in with the office as to what they might need done that volunteers could do. Because of potential liability, some of the work can be done by employees only. Needless to say, both my son and I are very happy about this turn of events. Have you ever been on the verge of missing out on something you thought was cancelled only to find out you could go after all?
