Christmas is coming / myLot

I get a little bit of pin money from doing online surveys and this morning I got my first Christmas advert to rate. We haven't even got to Hallowe'en yet! I have to say that I'm not an active Christian but I do have some Christian beliefs and it makes my blood boil when we get Christmas carols, trees, lights etc before we even get to advent. And don't get me started on getting hot cross buns in the shops 12 months of the year! They're supposed to be eaten at Easter!!

It's crazy isn't it? I think it spoils any holiday to start anticipating it too far in advance.

Somehow Christmas seems to stir something in all religions. I'm a non practising Christian - I believe but don't go to church but, as far as I'm concerned all religions seem to have the same aim - be kind and helpful, look after all living things and protect the planet.

It totally spoils the anticipation. When I was a child back in the 1960's we put the tree etc up a week before Christmas and carols were sung from the start of Advent.
