Dealing with Comcast again. No internet. No phone.

At what point do I say "enough is enough"? I pay something ridiculous like $179/month for TV, "high speed" internet, and phone service. It's been down about half of the time over the past few weeks. I reset my modem. They remotely reset my modem (I call them on my drug dealer flip phone). It works for half-an-hour and then goes down again. I schedule on-site appointments. I cancel on-site appointments when the latest "remote fix" works for a whole day. So far they've given me a $10 discount for the time "their computer" shows I had no service. Comcast is not quite a monopoly. AT&T provides service here too. But I've heard their service sucks as well. I'm losing potential dates with fashion models and Hot Asian Brides. I'm losing MyLot revenues. I'm losing potential speaker refinishing customers. I'm losing my mind. What's a fella to do?

We go through that sometimes too....and we don't really have an alternative choice with our internet service provider.

Since they're a "monopoly" in your area, do they charge high prices?

We had a few years like that here with Xplornet (they are the only choice here) but since they've upgraded there system it works most of the time. It was extremely frustrating for a while though and I'm not sure I'm quite over it.

We had a similar problem, it was the plug where the modem was attached. They switched to fiber optics and the plug was outdated. They changed the plug and we had no more problems.

Hmm. I think they updated my modem once. I'm pretty sure I'll have to have a tech over soon. Things are working OK this morning so far, though.

@TheHorse I am not saying the modem, I am saying the plug to which the cable of the modem is attached. This was the thing that was defective in our home.

@TheHorse Me too. The map says we have several but not here, only two, the expensive one and the one that is heading that way in a hurry.

I thought I paid a lot for my service. You pay about $20 more than I do. Mine is constantly going off and on all day. It is terrible trying to get money at an earning site. Half the time, the internet is off. I am so angry but the competitor that operates in the park is even more expensive. My rate does not include cable.

@TheHorse I think it is DSL. Does that sound right? If not, I don't understand the question. My laptop is hardwired to the modem because when I first got internet, I could not afford a router and I just never changed it after that.

I suggest that you can maybe go to a local library and use a computer there. Maybe you can look for a different internet company with a different web infrastructure or maybe use the wifi of the neighbours for a small payment. I hope mylot revenues can be greater than the internet fee. In my case, it is less than 1% so I just mylot for fun. You can try to use the cellular internet with a mobile phone, but it requires more paymet. That works fine for me.

Check for wireless providers in your area that are not affiliated with the bigger companies. You might have to take each thing through a different provider but it could help.

The problem is that Comcast knows they suck. They don't care, either.

You pay a lot. You can change the provider if this happens often.
