Interesting Facts About McDonald's

McDonald's didn't have indoor seating until the 70's. People usually ate in their cars or there were a few benches. Some locations are now take out only or have a remote ordering system. Ray A Kroc came on board to help the McDonald brothers with franchising and built it up into the sucessful and famous fast food restaurant in the world. In Downey, California one of these franchises signed a special agreement which freed it up to pretty much do as it pleased. To this day it still serves the deep fried apple pie which was discontinued in 1992. The original McDonald's is now a museum. The oldest chain of restaurants to have a drive thru is Red's Hamburg in Missouri. But a manager in Sierra Vista, Aizona around the mid 70's used the drive thru to over come a problem soldiers had. They could not wear their uniforms in public. So to make it more convenient for local soldiers at Ft. Huachuca they implemented the drive thru for them. The Daily Beast carried a story in July 2018 about a promotion for McDonald's, a Monopoly board game, which became one of the country's biggest scandals of the 20th century. Certain employees that were given the task of security for this game began taking the prize pieces for themselves. They were giving them out to friends and family until 12 years into their scam the FBI stopped it.

Quite the assortment of facts. I find it interesting, how few grocery stores there are compared to the ratio of fast food joints in a town.

That's true. Does that say that Americans are lazy and would rather eat out?

@sallypup ........Time is key here. People are in a hurry and no, they don't want to take the time to slow down and smell the food.

@celticeagle Maybe Americans think they don't have time to cook decent food?? My town has maybe 23 thousand people in it and two Burger Kings, two McDonalds, two or three Starbucks, Jack in the Box, tons and tons of Mexican joints. And soon Wendys is coming in cause we don't have enough fast food joints!! ( 4 grocery stores if you count Walmart and then a Grocery Outlet.)

Not a surprise concerning the Monopoly game. Probably not just McDonald's employees but employees of any company having such a contest.
