This is a disease that has killed 6 million bats in the US. It attaches to the bat's nose when they are hybrenating. Bats are a very positive part of our environment. They eat their weight in bugs in one night. They keep the price of produce down because producers don't have to spend so much on pesticides to kill the bugs that harm the produce.
There are about 40 types of bats in the US. Some populations number in the million while others are very low or in decline.
Three states have a state bat. Those states are Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia.

Nearly wiped out the entire population in this province. I wrote an article about it several years ago.

That's sad. Hope it has built back up.

@celticeagle You might see one on rare occasion right now. It will likely take decades to bounce back all the way.

Is white nose syndrome can also infect humans? Poor bats, they give us the effective fertilizers.

This was interesting information. I use to live in Texas and never knew they had a state bat.

That means that more bugs are going to thrive and come after us.

I recently read about this.
"They keep the price of produce down " guess the supermarkets and grocery stores haven't heard about that yet here--ALL produce has gone up!
