Long Distance Friend

Got a phone call this morning from a friend I have not heard from in a few years. Thankfully they are all doing well. She and her husband were my son's godparents. We were very close when we lived in the same town. Now it seems life has taken our friendship away or at least made it seem not as close. They have grandkids that keep them busy. I don't but it is no excuse not to stay in touch. You never know how long you have on this earth. It is so important to stay in touch with friends. Family as well, if you have them. We have to never take anyone or anything for granted in life. Agree?

I have a teenage time girlfriend that got married young and moved far away. And then, I moved even farther away, but always kept in touch by letters or phone calls and even a few visits.

@CarolDM Very often we talk for hours on the phone, reminiscing about our time together.

I have close friends too but we separated ways after one of us went to canada and i got married. Two of us live in the same country, she lives in canada. We seldom communicate because we are all busy with our lives but when the one from canada comes to our country, we eat in a fine restaurant and have some long hours of chit chat.

Of course I agree, it's in the human nature to think "I have time", but we are not those who plan when our last day is.

It happens distance from people who live far from us. But if they live in the same city as we, i think we should find time for them.

Work and life have separated me from friends more than I like to say. Now we have to make special dates to see each other. Friends and family are worth it though.

What a happy moment you have. After many years u are again in touch with your friend. Now it's your turn to maintain the relationship. Try to meet them at least once in two years. Just keep in touch with each other.

I keep in touch as often as I can though I have lost touch with some friends/relatives. We meet occasionally and renew contacts. I agree we have to maintain old relationships that sustained us at some point in time - siva

You are surely right about not taking anyone for granted. However, I find that I have less in common with many friends of my earlier years than I used to, and there comes a point when you realise there is no point in keeping up a relationship for the sake of shared memories alone.
