When do you start putting up Christmas decor?

Christmas is my favorite holiday season, and I'm thankful to be living in a country that has the longest Christmas season. Here in the Philippines many homes and establishments start putting up holiday decor as early as September and take them down in January. I'm already very eager to decorate the house and put up the tree. But my husband would always insist that we do it after my birthday (which is toward the end of November). This year I'm hoping that I'd be able to convince him to decorate by the second week of November. For those who celebrate Christmas, when do you usually start putting up decor in your home or in your office? Do you buy new decor every year or use the same old ones over and over? Do you tend to be lavish or prefer to be simple?

@Icydoll I fully agree, when you see those decorations during 4 months it's no more a pleasure.

I like simple decor, too. Our neighborhood isn't known to be lavish at decorating. But nearly every house has an electric lantern.

We haven't started decorating Christmas decors at home. It's my gay brother-in-law who puts them up and also takes them down. He is in Manila on weekdays for his schooling to be a Branch Manager. We are mostly adults now at home so Christmas light and the simple gold Christmas tree is already enough.

@almostoveryou Yes, when there are children in the house, it is imperative to put up a Chritsmas tree, because they love it and putting their small sock for Santa to fill up on Christmas eve,

By the last week of November. But I saw many people start decorating their house by October and some are even earlier.

Throughout the November/December season; as the kiddos decide to decorate. The tree usually goes up sometime after Thanksgiving here (so basically mid to late November for us).

I decorate every year at the same day, the 6th of December, day of Saint Nicolas, that we celebrate here in Switzerland. I do not like to see Christmas decorations before time, it spoils the magic of Christmas.

We celebrate Thanksgiving here on the last Thursday in November. Unless we are travelling, the tree goes up the day after.
