After a lot of little oh-ohs, we have pretty much moved in and gotten settled. The house at long last is finally starting to come together. We had an interesting Halloween with some of the nicest kids on the planet... and it was all over by 8 p.m!! In Manitoba I think that we had 2 kids... this year about 45! Loved every minute of it!! Oh... one more thing. We just realized that we have a Quince bush in the back yard! I think that's what it is called. I was looking out the window and saw a bush with little yellow-orange fruit hanging from it. Grabbed one and managed to find out what it was. I had heard of them... but had never seen one. Lots of plants I have never seen before. Really quite excited about the Holly bush... one or two berries, but will have to learn how to care for it so that I have lots for next Christmas!!

I have a large Holly tree with plenty of berries, I am going to cut some branches for Christmas decorations. I never heard of Quince fruits.

Our holly is about 3 feet tall... will have to learn how to take care of it. Cutting branches for Christmas sounds awesome! As for the quince... I had heard of them but had never seen them. Have to learn about them too it seems. Going to have a really busy summer in 2019!! :)

@Hate2Iron Our holly is a big grown up tree, it is at least 15 feet tall. I can no more prune the branches on the top.

Good that you have lots of things you have in your backyard. Maybe next time post a picture of it so that we can see it from our end where we have no idea what it is. I am just imagining what your backyard looks like and I am interested to see it in your next post perhaps. Congratulation on your new home and is already settling down already.

My mother loved quince and would stew them as a dessert with custard or ice-cream. You can also make jelly with them.

I think that we have a grand total of about 12 of them but I can imagine what a great dessert they would make with custard!!
