Position of women in our society

In our male dominated society, women have been disrespected and tortured. Their position in society has degrated so much that a daughter born into family is considered a curse. But now, in the 21st century society, women ha e set their goals and are challenging men in all spheres of life. Daughters are not a curse for a family. If they are provided with education and taken good care, they will become a blessing for India. Shreya Majumder, Class VIII I am totally agree with this thought and in this century all are equal.

Everyone in this world gets unwarranted persecution. So don't think it is just women who get mistreated, disrespected, abused, or otherwise. Look at how people view the rich for example. Or even when it comes to men, too many women think we are evil, sexist predators. One thing in this world I think would be nice is for people to stop making themselves victims, stop pointing fingers, and just move on.

@debjani1 So they say. I have a lot of money and I get called greedy all the time. It's unfair. Lots of stuff in life is unfair. I refuse to be a victim.

Things have change now and more women are being into careers, which is good. It's crazy that women are degraded and yet we all came from our mothers, which is even more shameful to those men who degrade women.

Where are you from? I have learned from my friend @Vandana7 that women's rights still have a long way to go in her Country, which is India.

Absolutely Pony. Even strangers get to dictate terms, just because they are men. I am feeling sorry for my aunt right now. Her house is being managed by dad. The tenant absconded. But had damaged the home substantially. Repairs are to be done. Dad wants to do it his way, though it is her house. She naturally wants it done in her way. I am having tough time convincing him, and kids who are in states listen to only my dad, because he is "man". Dad hides facts, and even bluffs his way. I am feeling very sorry for my aunt. Dad is an egoistic control freak.

Absolutely! Woman are every bit as good as men. I’d like to see the men that abuse women suffer the same treatment. I know in some countries women are treated less than human and it’s such a shame.

@debjani1 I think so too. It wasn’t that long ago that women in the US couldn’t own property or vote. They were ruled by their fathers and husbands. We are still not equal to men in salaries and jobs but we’re getting there.

What a wonderful thought and message you share with us. Women indeed are a blessing for the world, not only for their intelligence, but also the gift of giving life. We all, men, must respect them and give them the value they deserve! Nice post, it is really reflecting!

I always try to look out for women but sometimes they tell me stop, I can take care of myself. I always try to learn where they need my help and do not. I never got how people think it is cool to hold people down, whether you just a jerk or you just trying to solidify your place in the world. I would think the latter is why people do it but most part I think many men are just jerks.
