Time now for a little fun. Errrr, time now for a lot of fun, actually. I pulled out my Girlfinder this morning, and found not one, not two, but FOUR girls! We are at #18: "You Make Me Hot" by The Donnas.
Very Runaways-ish, The Donnas formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1993. The four girls were already, as Wikipedia calls them, a "metal queen" band called The Electrocutes, when they decided to form a second, less-metal group called The Donnas. (In order to maintain a distinction between their two bands, the girls looked no further than the Ramones, whose members all adopted the last name of "Ramone." While performing as The Donnas, each girl took the first name of "Donna," coupled with her own last initial.) While The Donnas originally found a foothold within the punk community, they have since experienced acceptance inside the mainstream (and have all stopped calling themselves "Donna,") with their music being used in movies, television shows, and video games. The band has also appeared on the main stage at Lollapolooza, on late night talk shows such as David Letterman, Jay Leno, as well as Saturday Night Live.
2:20 of pure, pop-punk fun, "You Make Me Hot" is the second track from the band's 1998 album (their second,) American Teenage Rock and Roll Machine. The tune has a definite Runaways/Joan Jett influence going on, and, I ask you - Is that really such a bad thing?

That is interesting to have a singing group named after the late Donna Summer. Wink wink.

There are definitely worse people to name a band after!

A guy calling himself "Donna" would have been great!

@amadeo - That would have been as good as the singer for Gaye Bykers on Acid calling himself Mary Byker.

As much as I love protest and message songs, I gotta have some fun listening once in awhile!

The Donnas rock! Have you listened to their cover of the Beatles Drive My Car?

I just did. I had no idea they had done so. Pretty faithful to the original.

They actually took their cue from the Ramones, but I totally forgot about the Spice Girls!

Had to check out this tune to see who was making these girls so hot? Sound a bit like Pat Benatar to me. But, I like Pat much better musically and visually, lol.

I've seen Pat twice. She was my first Red Rocks concert. Billy Squier opened.
