My physiotherapist attributes weakness in my lower limbs to weakness in my abdominal muscles. He did a thorough check up and has now recommended a few exercises - not few really but around 9 including weights. They are not difficult but will induce pain when I get to them for the first time. I am determined to have a go as I know physiotherapy is the best in these circumstances. I will go for weights only after I am through with the other exercises. Just when I was enjoying life.................never mind

I do my own style of tai chi or just whatever you want to call it. Good luck and its hard to stick with that kind of thing I know but maybe you can vary what you do to be able to get into a habit.

@allknowing If it hurts too much then I would stop and would tell them where it hurts.

I think it is inevitable to feel these things as we age. But as long as there are interventions we can do, it is okay. You will soon get used to it so, that's okay.

Well if it's good, a little pain and a lot of gain is worth it.

I do exercises for my arms and legs every day, especially in winter when I walk less outside and I cannot work in the garden. There are some good abdominal exercises not too extreme, but that help to strengthen the muscles. Check YouTube.

I have already been given a list and would prefer to follow them. I will get back in a month to see how I have fared. I was made to do those exercises at the hospital to see if I am doing them right.

@allknowing I have done the exercises with my physiotherapist first. I needed several sessions when I had a problem with my right shoulder, and he also showed me other exercises to keep firm and elastic.

Pain is to be expected as I will be subjecting my limbs to movements which hitherto are new to them.

I'm sure I would benefit from an exercise program too but so far I'm too lazy. I'll be sorry when I can't walk.

@leny34 Yes it is important as your physiotherapist has to first examine you and suggest appropriate exercises.
