Bird watching

We seem to have a lot more birds this year than we have in the past.
This morning, in addition to chickadees and finches and wrens I have seen one blue jay. Also present were three male cardinals and two females.
Crows, hawks and other big birds also hang out.
I know why. I have bought bird seed for them.
In addition, I had made so much home made bread, then we had to be gone, so it became stale, and a little moldy. It is out front.
I had a few small red grapes that were just clinging to their stems, and those are outside as well.
There are some birdbaths outdoors as well.
The wildlife will enjoy Thanksgiving.

Yes. Some of them start as soon as I turn on my lights in the morning.

@GardenGerty Sometimes I do not like when they wake me early in the morning.

I do not think the hawks would go after Princess, but we have plenty of other prey around for them.

I wish we had more kinds of birds that stop by but I am very happy with the birds we do get and we feed them all kinds of things we know won't hurt them. What I look forward to are all the butterflies and the monarch butterfly migration.

Yes, the Monarch migration is a real sight to see. One year in the spring we had hundreds of red admirals around. I am planting more things for the pollinators. Most of the summer I had a black swallowtail that would come to the flowers on the mint plants.

@GardenGerty Swallowtails are one of my favorites! We live kind of in the area where the monarchs disperse so we always see a ton of them.

I wish I was faster with my camera, but they always fly away.

@GardenGerty nature rather have us see it through our eyes than a camera I guess , they do make for a beautiful picture though (:

Birds are a boon really as they bring life to the environment with their chirping. I have loads of them too with so many fruit trees and a bird bath

I think Jays are very intelligent birds and would interact well as pets.

Birds love bread. Fish do too. That is where my old bread goes in the summer. I love to watch them come up to eat it.

I especially like to give them the homemade bread cause I know what is in it.

Oh I love chickadees, finches and the like. Any small or plump bird is just too cute. I haven't done any serious bird watching in years but I enjoy the usual visitors and the occasional migratory ones in our backyard.

I do not see mockingbirds here, but all the others. My sister puts out peanuts for the squirrels. I had a flicker this morning as well.
